Tour Kick Off: The Dilemma

Today is the Kick Off of the The Dilemma Blog Tour!

Romantic Suspense
Date Published: 7/22/12

In Chicago, the name Jon Elliott garners attention. When the legal mastermind offers to mentor Alexis Winters, Bingham, Elliott and Bright’s newest associate, she jumps at the opportunity sure this will launch her career. But Jon has a dark side, one that demands unquestioning loyalty and a willingness to defy the spirit of the law, if not the letter.
Thrust into Jon’s world and expected to play by his rulebook, Alexis grapples with her conscience. On several occasions, Jon’s orders are at odds with what she learned in law school, and she finds herself trapped between her profession’s ethical rules and her own values. When Jon’s biggest client appears to be engaging in questionable activities and he orders her to ignore the behavior, Alexis investigates on her own. Suddenly, she is not only a witness to a horrible crime but a victim in her own right. Going underground, she turns to the one person she can trust, investigative journalist Ryder Prescott, a childhood friend. Together, Ryder and Alexis work to solve a puzzle that crosses socioeconomic classes, political parties, and international borders.
Embroiled in a global conspiracy that costs her the only family she has left, Alexis must decide how far she will go to defend truth and justice. Is she willing to sacrifice life, liberty and the possibility of love?

Jacquie Johnson fell in love with books on her mother’s knee. From Dr. Seuss to Carolyn Keene to L.M. Montgomery, she continued her affair until her teenage years when she began reading authors ranging from Tom Clancy to Nora Roberts to Johanna Lindsey. She’s still an avid reader but now carries an e-reader instead of a paperback in her purse. Mysteries and suspense are her favorite genres, but she enjoys romance, historical fiction, and non-fiction as well.
She graduated from Harvard and Indiana University School of Law. After ten years practicing labor and employment law, she retired to homeschool her daughters. She lives in Northwest Indiana with her husband, three daughters, and a spoiled cocker spaniel named Princess.

Tour Kick Off - Meet and Greet - Emlyn Chand

Today is the Kick Off of the Torn Together Tour!

Women's Fiction
Date Published: 8/15/12
Evolved Publishing

From her cheating boyfriend to her dead father and cold, judgmental mother, Daly knows she can’t trust others to be there when it counts. This cynicism begins to melt away when she meets Kashi, a light-hearted charmer from India, who decides he cares too much to let her fade into the background of her own life. After a series of false starts, their quirky romance carries them to India, where Daly must win the approval of Kashi’s family in order to seal their “forever.”

Meanwhile, Laine struggles to cope with the pain of early widowhood, fleeing into the pages of her well-worn library and emerging only to perform her duties as a social worker at the crisis pregnancy center. Although her daughter wants nothing more than to work as an artist, Laine doesn’t know how to redirect Daly to a more suitable profession without further damaging their tenuous relationship.

Can Laine look past her pain to learn from an unlikely mentor? Has Daly finally found someone whom she can trust? Will the women recognize their common bonds before the relationship is broken beyond repair?

Reading Addiction Blog Tours MEET and GREET

#1 – Do You See Writing as a Career?

Absolutely. Just because you love your job, that doesn’t magically make it, um, not a
job. You need to make sure you are well-trained through reading reference guides,
honing your craft, and paying attention to evaluations (re: reviews). You need to put
in the time, the hours, the energy. You need to take pride in what you do and realize
its importance. Writing is absolutely a job, and it’s a wonderful—although sometimes
heartbreaking—one.

#2 – What was the Hardest Part of Your Writing Process?

Plotting is the hardest for me. I like to build really strong characters, and sometimes I
allow them to distract me from my story. These detours can be good, or they can cripple
your work. I guess that’s why Faulkner said “kill your darlings.” That’s why I kill off so
many of my characters, dontcha know? ;-)

#3 – Did you have any One Person Who Helped You Out with Your Writing Outside of
Your Family?

My best friend, Rebecca, has been my biggest supporter—hands-down. She reads
everything I write at least three times and gives me feedback about what is working and
what could be working better. She also listens to me drone on and on about my ideas
for stories and never shows any signs of being bored (which I’ve got to imagine she is at
least sometimes—I can talk for hours on end).

#4 – What is next for your writing?

I’m currently working on finishing up my YA series, Farsighted. The first two books
(Farsighted and Open Heart) are already out there, and my publisher wants me to finish
up the final three (Pitch, Vertigo, Refrain) for an accelerated launch schedule in 2013. I
love writing this series, so I’m really excited about it. Just have to find enough time to
get it all done!

#5 – Do you have an addiction to reading as well as writing? If so, what are you currently
reading?

Of course, I love reading! I mean, what writer doesn’t? Well, I’ve been in a bit of a
reading slump, unfortunately. I’ve been attempting to read Fifty Shades of Grey for
the last three months and am about half done. I think it’s killing a little part of me,
and that’s probably not a good thing. Do you have any recommendations to help me
rekindle my love?

iPod or Mp3?

Actually, neither. I listen to music either via GrooveShark on my computer or SiriusXM in
my car.

Chocolate or Vanilla?

Chocolate. Every single time.

Comedy or Drama?

Comedy in film. Drama in literature.

Danielle Steel or Nicholas Sparks?

Gag me, neither.

Fantasy or Reality?

Fantasy. It’s where I live.

Call or Text?

Text. More efficient.

Public School or Home School?

Public school. Everyone needs to be socialized, durn it!

Coffee or Hot Chocolate?

Coffee, a thousand times, coffee.

eBook or Paperback?

Love my eBooks. Sorry, old school readers!

Young Adult / New Adult
Date Published: 9/1/12

 Maura has just jumped.
Now she has precisely six seconds until she hits the water below her—just six more seconds until she is finally freed from her mundane and aimless existence.  Freed of all of the regrets and disappointments that have haunted her throughout her nineteen years.
She just needs to be free.
But as she falls, the most pivotal points of her life start to replay like a movie in her head: her family falling apart, her first love, her first heartbreak, her first true friends, and her first betrayal.  As she remembers these moments that brought her to this point, will she feel a sense of peace?  Or will her death be her greatest regret?

This Virtual Book Tour will be from October 15 - November 16

Christopher Clarke is the nicest guy Amy Fallon has ever met. He is handsome, smart, funny, an all-around great guy. Tyler Clarke is hot. So why is Amy, one of the smartest girls in school, so clueless when it comes to realizing who she is truly falling in love with? Or better yet, who’s falling in love with her.
Amy is forced to spend the week at her grandmother’s house in Arizona. She returns home to New York with a closer bond to her grandmother, with a best friend who she adores and with a boyfriend who she believes is everything she has ever dreamed of. After months of communication with the two new men in her life, things finally seem to be falling in to place for Amy. That is, until she starts to realize whom her heart is truly longing for. When she returns to Arizona almost a year later, things don’t go quite as planned when she is blindsided not only by the death of her grandmother, but learns the truth behind the text messages from Tyler. With time, and a little help from her grandmother’s memory we are able to see if her broken heart can heal and get Amy back on the course she was destined for.

Tour Kick Off - Meet and Greet - Renee Rose

Today is the Kick Off of the Deathless Love Virtual Book Tour!

Paranormal Erotica (Spanking)
Date Published: 8/29/12
Publisher: Stormy Night Publications

Kate Strand has always had a crush on Dominic, the owner of the club where her band plays, despite--  or perhaps because of-- the fact that he's a vampire.  But when he sniffs out her predilection for spanking and brings her fantasies to reality one night, she falls head over heels.  The trouble is, Dom is allergic to relationships, or so it seems.

Dom loves knowing how to turn Kate on and domination comes naturally to him.  But he believes he likes Kate more than is good for either of them.  In his mind, mortals and vampires don't mix, and the best thing he can do for her is stay far away.  But when another vampire targets Dom, Kate gets tangled in the dangerous web and Dom finds himself prepared to sacrifice his own life to save hers.  Can he get her back alive?  And if so, will they find a way to be together?

Renee Rose
Renee Rose is an author of erotic romance. She received a Bachelor's of Arts in Creative Writing from Knox College, where she was trained to write poetry and literary fiction and was the recipient of the Lorraine Smith prize for short fiction.

Upon graduation, she took a gig writing instruction manuals (yawn!) and sales and marketing copy for an engineering firm. After thirteen years numbing her mind and allowing her creative juices to evaporate, she read her first romance novel and was hooked.

Because she believes no romance is complete without spanking, she is thrilled to be incorporating her fantasies into fiction, publishing soft core spanking romances with Blushing Books and Stormy Night Publications. She lives in the Southwest USA with her husband and young children.

Reading Addiction Blog Tours MEET and GREET

#1 – Do You See Writing as a Career?

Yes, although I always have my hands in many pies-- I am also a somatic practitioner, a dance teacher/performer, PTA board member and mama.

#2 – What was the Hardest Part of Your Writing Process?

I have a tendency to be too nice to my characters, which isn't good for dramatic tension.  I have to remember to make them suffer a bit!  :)  I'm also trying to get better about plotting instead of just letting my imagination run off and then needing to go back and shape things later.

#3 – Did you have any One Person Who Helped You Out with Your Writing Outside of Your Family?

I had a poetry professor once who really taught us to honor our own voices/stories-- she was a huge influence on me in the way I ask for and incorporate feedback.  I also have several good friends who serve as beta readers for me.  I absolutely treasure their feedback.

#4 – What is next for your writing?

I am releasing a Regency spanking romance soon and I'm starting to plot the sequel to No Return, which will be Stella's love story with F/m domination.

#5 – Do you have an addiction to reading as well as writing? If so, what are you currently reading?

Of course!  I am trying to catch up on all my fellow spanking fiction authors and my non-spanko addiction is JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series.  Oh, and I read Harry Potter to my 7 year old at night (she's absolutely addicted).

This or That?

#1 - iPd or Mp3?   Ipod

#2 – Chocolate or Vanilla?  I live for chocolate.

#3 – Mashed Potatoes or French Fries?  French fries – I like sweet potato best.

#4 – Comedy or Drama?  Comedy

#5 – Danielle Steel or Nicholas Sparks?  Danielle Steele

#6 – Fantasy or Reality?  Fantasy

#7 – Call or Text?  Text

#8 – Public School or Home School?  Public, but only if it's unique

#9 – Coffee or Hot Chocolate  Coffee

#10 – eBook or Paperback?  Paperback, although reading books on my Droid while the kids are at swim lessons is pretty cool.

Contemporary New Adult
Date to be Published: October 1, 2012

When Lou travels to Scotland, she’s a mess.  She’s twenty-six, unemployed, and unsure of herself.  It doesn’t help that she’s traveling with Tammy, her best friend, who is everything Lou is not.
At first, the trip pushes Lou towards the brink of depression, but then she meets Brian, a handsome local tour guide.  When Brian tells the tourists about the countless witches burned in Scotland, Lou starts to listen.  And when she discovers information about Isobel Key, one of the victims of the seventeenth century, Lou finds renewed purpose.
Lou has begun exploring the Neo Pagan faith, a dramatic shift from her wealthy Catholic upbringing.  Despite her fears of being too “hocus pocusy”, Lou turns to her new faith as she struggles to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of Isobel Key.  But faith or not, Lou must face her demons if she has any hope of righting the wrongs of the past.

Jen McConnel first began writing poetry as a child. Since then, her words have appeared in a variety of magazines and journals, including Sagewoman, PanGaia, and The Storyteller (where she won the people’s choice 3rd place award for her poem, “Luna”).

She is also an active reviewer for Voices of Youth Advocates (VOYA), and proud member of SCBWI, NCWN, and SCWW.

A Michigander by birth, she now lives and writes in the beautiful state of North Carolina. When she isn't crafting worlds of fiction, she teaches writing composition at a community college. Once upon a time, she was a middle school teacher, a librarian, and a bookseller, but those are stories for another time.
