Ya Fantasy
(Gatekeepers Trilogy Book 2)
Date Published: 11/29/12
Ten agonizing months have gone by since Therese faced off against her parents’ murderer at Mount Olympus, and she suspects Thanatos’s absence is meant to send her a message: go on with your life. In cahoots with her new friend, who's gotten in with the Demon Druggies at school, Therese takes a drug that simulates a near-death experience, planning to tell Than off so she can have closure and move on, but things go very, very wrong.
Than has been busy searching for a way to make her a god, and he’s found it, but it requires her to complete a set of impossible challenges designed by Hades, who hopes to see her fail.

#1 – Do You See Writing as a Career?
Absolutely. I became a professor of writing and literature knowing it would be a good fit
for launching a writing career. It’s taken me years to make it happen, but I’m loving the
journey and not looking back! I have several more books outlined and can’t wait to write
them!
#2 – What was the Hardest Part of Your Writing Process?
The most difficult part of this journey was deciding whether to pursue the traditional
publishing route or to self-publish. Patience has never been a virtue of mine, and the
traditional route is so long and tedious, but taking the leap to self-publish was scary.
Luckily, I wasn’t alone. I found a lovely editor, named Sara Kocek through the Writers’
League of Texas, and a talented graphic artist, named Melinda Vanlone. With their help, I
took the plunge, and, so far, I have no regrets.
#3 – Did you have any One Person Who Helped You Out with Your Writing Outside of
Your Family?
I’ve had several critique partners who have all helped to improve my writing, including
Shona Snowden, Debbie Canon, Minka Misangyi, Tammy Gray, Sharon Dotson, Valerie
Chandler, Carole Leezer, and my graphic artist, Melinda Vanlone (who is also a writer),
but the one person who helped me more than any other was my editor, Sara Kocek.
#4 – What is next for your writing?
I’m currently writing the third book in my Gatekeeper’s Trilogy, The Gatekeeper’s
Daughter. After the launch of that book on December 1, 2013, my plans are to write a
second trilogy from the point of view of one of the other characters in Gatekeeper’s.
#5 – Do you have an addiction to reading as well as writing? If so, what are you currently
reading?
I do have an addiction to reading, and I’ve always tried to maintain a balance between
writing and reading because each activity intensifies the other, in my opinion. Currently
I’m reading Starters, by Lissa Price.
