Tour Kick Off - Prey of Desire by JC Gatlin #giveaway

Mystery/Suspense
Date Published: February 17, 2014

They said the disappearance of two high school students over 25 years ago was mystery that couldn't be solved.
No one ever said it shouldn't be.

Following the abrupt end of a relationship, college student Kimberly Bradford finds comfort in the friendship with her over-the-top neighbor, Mallory. And, Mallory encourages her to get back out there. She would of course if it weren't for the thrilling little love notes and gifts she's been receiving .

Kim thinks they're from her ex-fiancee, not realizing he's been murdered. Worse, whoever is sending her all the extra attention is not only in her inner-circle, but has a connection to that unsolved murder some 25 years ago. That connection puts her life in danger, and exposes secrets better left buried around her closest friends and family.

#1 – Do You See Writing as a Career?

Absolutely. Like any career, you have to study your profession, continuously improve, and commit a significant investment in time and education. You must be disciplined and, not just set goals, but achieve them. You have to take it seriously.

#2 – What was the Hardest Part of Your Writing Process?

Cutting scenes -- especially character back story -- that I absolutely loved and thought was brilliant. But, I knew those scenes weren’t moving the story forward. You wouldn’t believe what I cut out of ‘Prey of Desire’ to keep that story tight and racing to the big climactic end.  I might post some of the character histories on my blog. That way, interested readers can access it, but it doesn’t interrupt the flow of the book.

#3 – Did you have any One Person Who Helped You Out with Your Writing Outside of Your Family?

I’m blessed with a lot of supportive people. My best friend Chad, who’s coached football and is active in his daughter’s dance competitions, is always pushing me to go the extra mile and to keep my eye on the prize. He has to listen to all my ideas – good and bad – and put up with me constantly rambling about whatever page/scene/character that’s tumbling through my head.

#4 – What is next for your writing?

My next mystery-suspense novel “Hangm_n” comes out early in 2015, and I can’t wait for people to read it. It has some really fun characters and a few surprises that I hope no one will see coming, I’m also working on a mystery series idea that I’m excited to launch.

#5 – Do you have an addiction to reading as well as writing? If so, what are you currently reading?

Lately I’ve been reading every marketing book I can get my hands on. I just downloaded and started “Crush It with Kindle” by John Tighe. The last fiction book I read was Leslie O’Kane’s “Death Comes e-Calling.”

  9. I love the mystery/suspense genre so the overall mystery of the disappearance is the most appealing.
