#1 – Do You See Writing as a Career?
Writing is definitely more than a hobby for me. I prefer to
share my writing with others rather than have it sit in a file drawer, and that
means I have to be mindful of deadlines, marketing, my on-line presence, and so
on. However, I consider it more of a passion than a career at this point in my
life.
#2 – What was the Hardest Part of Your Writing Process?
Lately the most difficult part of the process has been
clearing my mind of all the stresses in my life and focusing on my characters. When
I am able to let the characters enter in and take over, the process is almost
effortless. Otherwise it’s about getting some bones down to build on, which can
be slow and arduous, but once the foundation is there it usually doesn’t take
much to make it all come together.
#3 – Did you have any One Person Who Helped You Out with
Your Writing Outside of Your Family?
I’m fortunate to have a lot of friends and family who
support me in my writing projects. For this book I had my on-line critique
group at The Next Big Writer, editor Judy Griffith Gill, and authors Susan Stec
and Tirzah Goodwin. Having other professionals go over your work before
publishing is critical for creating a quality product.
#4 – What is next for your writing?
I have started writing a sequel to my humorous paranormal
thriller, Hitchhiker, because I enjoy
working with the characters. I am also plugging away at the third and final
book of my Watcher of Anthelion fantasy series. It’s been slow going recently
due to an illness in the family, but I’ll get there.
#5 – Do you have an addiction to reading as well as writing?
If so, what are you currently reading?
I love escaping with a good book. I’m currently reading You, Jane by Elizabeth Fountain. I plan
to finally start reading George RR Martin’s Song of Fire & Ice series next.

Audra Middleton was born and raised in Washington State where she lives with her husband and their three boys. She gave up her teaching career to raise her children, and in between diaper changes and baseball games, she began writing books. Once she started, she couldn’t stop, even after she went back to teaching. Check her website to find out more about her writing projects.
