#1 – Do You See Writing as a Career?

Someday I would love to say that writing is my full time career, but for now law enforcement is the job that pays the bills on a daily basis. I have a few more years before I can retire and I full intend to kick my writing into the next level once I hang up the badge and gun. For now, I’ll keep making notes on the cases I deal with to add fodder to my writing after I do retire.

#2 – What was the Hardest Part of Your Writing Process?

One of the hardest parts of writing is the editing process. Writing is actually easy, at least for me. Most times the story comes so quickly, that my fingers fly over the keyboard to keep up with my mind. I have been known to write 12K-15K words in a day when I am really focused. I actually wrote one of my latest novels (65K) in 5 days.

It’s when I go back and have to dig through what I have written to give it deeper meaning, or correct errors that are found that I find difficult. I do work closely with several editors, and they help tremendously, but it can be draining during that process.

#3 – Did you have any One Person Who Helped You Out with Your Writing Outside of Your Family?

One person?  I can’t say any one person, unless you count my editors. There are lots of people that I toss ideas around with, especially my beta team. Their opinions and comments mean the world to me and I take everything they say, good and bad, seriously and think about the story they are helping me with. Many times, I have edited their thoughts or opinions into my stories.

#4 – What is next for your writing?

This year I have at least 2 stand-alone novels coming out, Barbara’s Plea, and You’re Not Alone. I am also working to finish up book 3, Mixing the Blue Blood, and book 4, Blue Bloods Final Destiny, of the My Blood Runs Blue Series so they are released this year. I’m also currently working on 2 novella’s that are slated to go into box sets with some other authors, and I have 6 other novels sitting in the wings waiting to be written. The biggest problem is finding the time around my full time job and everything else life has going on around me.

#5 – Do you have an addiction to reading as well as writing? If so, what are you currently reading?

Oh yes!  I read constantly. I have the kindle app on my phone and my tablet and I have two kindles.  There are different books on all of them, but currently I am deep into book one of The Bloodline War series by Tracy Tappan. I’m trying to keep my mind focused on the paranormal so I can finish up Mixing the Blue Blood and Blue Bloods Final Destiny.
