Can Liza find her place in a lawless world?

When Liza Trent decided to become a mail order bride out west, she never imagined her fiancé would die before she arrived. His death places her in debt, and the only way to pay off the money is by auctioning off her virginity against her will. When she’s rescued by two handsome men, she mistakenly thinks they’re assassins. Despite her reservations, she accepts their protection.

Only the two men, Apollo Beck and Blue Hawke, aren’t assassins. They’re Texas Rangers sent after a man who preys on women, and their dangerous hunt has just brought Liza into the line of fire.

Confused with the attraction she feels for two men, Liza has a difficult decision before her: commit to loving Apollo and Blue or commit to her burning desire to become a doctor…unless she’s found and taken for revenge first.

I began reading my mom’s Harlequin Presents in the fifth grade, and from the first story I knew I wanted to write romance novels. I like writing about the very ordinary girl thrust into extraordinary circumstances, so my heroines will probably never be lawyers, doctors or corporate highrollers.  I try to write characters who aren't cookie cutters and push myself to write complicated situations that I have no idea how to resolve, forcing me to think outside the box.  I love writing characters who are real, complex and full of flaws, heroes and heroines who find redemption through love.

Excerpt

Ronan moved cautiously through the ship. The thick view windows had cracked upon impact, allowing dirt and rocks to tumble inside. Everything was washed out, colorless. Lifeless. He made his way through the broken, silent ship, dreading to see the cockpit and the remains of the captain. But much to his surprise, the control room stood empty.

He moved to the engine console and wiped off the inches-thick dirt, baring the powerless control panels. He sat his computer board on it and activated it. Seconds later the cockpit came to life as the wireless remote downloaded all the information available. It didn’t last long, and as soon as all the data was collected, he disconnected the console, shutting down the power surge. The small area fell silent and lifeless once again.

He activated the neural com link with Noah. “Where are you?”

“I’m next to a large clump of twisted metal.”

Ronan rolled his eyes. “Well, that narrows it down.”

“Wait,” Noah’s distracted voice told him. “I think I found what was causing the power signature.”

Ronan hesitated, but when Noah didn’t contact him after a minute he went after him, making his way carefully through the rubble into the back of the ship.

“Noah?”

“Ronan, you won’t believe this.”

“Believe what?”

He pushed into the back of the ship, which was actually in much better shape than the front, and saw him standing next to a large steel box. Through his visor Ronan could see the surprise covering the younger man’s face.

“What is it?”

Noah shook his head. “It’s a cryo chamber. And it’s occupied.”

“What?”

Ronan hurried over. The metal box, also known as a cold coffin, held a sleeping woman inside. He couldn’t see much of her because of all the tubes obscuring much of her face, but he could tell she was young, with flaming red hair—a glaring contrast to the paleness of her features.

I'm a Midwestern girl and a lover of coffee, live music, and horror movies, not necessarily in that order.
I've been writing all my life, and I honestly can't remember a time when I wanted to do anything but write. After many years spent suffering the trials of corporate America and writing about everything from financial risk management to software user manuals to website copy about radiators (sadly, I'm not kidding), I decided take the plunge and start writing books.
I love a good love story with super hot alpha males, strong heroines, a little humor, and a lot of suspense. Sprinkle in some sexual fantasies and a few BDSM aspects, and Boom! These are only a few of the themes you'll find in my books.

When I'm not writing, I'm probably at Starbucks, or fighting evil with the help of my husband, two children, and our houseful of animals.

The SIS team has dealt with all sorts of things that go bump in the night--vampires, zombies, even demons. But not everything odd or occult walks or breathes. The CIA calls on SIS leader John Benchley to alert him to a strange set of occurrences around an abandoned house in Baltimore. Investigating, the SIS team stumbles on to something unprecedented and deadly. And not every SIS member gets away from their encounters unscathed.
Life continues to go on--even around vampires, mad scientists and demons. SIS FBI liaison Gabrielle Dichenz, who is the lover of both John Benchley and Evan Garrett, John’s boyfriend, is coming to terms with her new life.  Recovering from her past with an abusive ex means looking closely at her present. Evan’s waiting patiently to integrate both of his lovers into his wider life. John, on the other hand, isn’t the sort of personality who takes well to waiting. There’s something really good growing between the three of them. Gabrielle just has to decide whether to truly grab for the brass ring or let her past dictate the shape of her future.

EXCERPT

John placed a hand on the doorknob. He already had a slightly creepy feeling about this place and he wondered if it had to with the reputed ley lines that Fiona had indicated might be beneath the house. The knob twisted with moderate ease and he pushed the door open.  “No need to break out the lock picks.”
There were signs of scuffed footprints through the dust and dirt in the foyer and he stood motionless for a moment just looking inside.
“Are we going in or what?” asked Todd.
“Yeah, yeah. Todd, you and Cecelia check upstairs. Rich, circle around back and see if there’s a door there. Evan and I will start on this floor.
There was a murmur of assent from the team members, and they began to head in separate directions. Evan was left standing a few feet behind John.
“Is it just me or does this place kind of make your skin crawl?” asked Evan.
John glanced back at him. “No, it’s not just you. Any thoughts as to why?”
Evan stepped in the direction of the front room and stood studying the decorative molding above the door. “Take a look at the corners,” he said pointing to the square blocks topping the corners. “Those look like Thelemic stars to me.” He pointed to the two overlapping chevron’s carved into the wood. It was all stained the same color and the symbols were not immediately apparent.
“Thelemic… that ritual magic stuff right?”

“Not just ritual, more along the lines of ceremonial, and more specifically utilized heavily by the Crowley crowd. I think theremight be more than one version of the stars, but I don’t know offhand what the differences might indicate.”
“Okay this definitely leans in the direction of supporting some of last few things that Fiona found. You take the right hand rooms as we move toward the back of the house and I’ll take the left. It should only take us a few minutes to go through,” said John.
***
Evan walked into the dimly lit room near the back of the house. It had one window, much smudged and cobwebbed that let some daylight in. Along the wall was a dusty broken chair, a fabric duffle bag and a pair of beer cans. He turned around to glance at the walls behind him, near the door. On the right hand side of the door hung a long narrow mirror in a heavy, dark, carved frame. He was standing at a sharp angle to it and couldn’t see his own reflection. Heading toward the duffle bag, he glanced at the mirror again. His image was wavy, distorted and he idly wondered how old the glass was. Something drew his eye.
In the reflection Evan saw a man behind him, and he whirled around to face the stranger. Gabrielle’s body was sprawled limply on the floor. Tom Garner, Brie’s psycho ex-boyfriend, was kneeling beside her, a knife in his hand, stabbing her again and again. Evan screamed, “NO!” He tackled the man and knocked him backward to the floor.
***
As John reached the back door and met Rich in the narrow kitchen, he wondered if Evan had found anything. “Go check upstairs and see if Todd and Cecelia need any help. I wonder of this place has a basement or just a crawl space. Look for a door that goes down,” he said to Rich.
“On it.”
John backtracked and veered into the very abbreviated hallway that separated two of the rear rooms. He glanced into the left hand one, empty, unless you counted dust and a squashed soda can.
“Yo, Evan. Find anything?” he called out. He looked into the right hand one. Evan was standing motionless, staring into an empty corner, his hand outstretched. John started toward him.  “Ev’?”
Suddenly Evan lunged at him, screaming. They went down in a tangle. Evan’s hands wrapped around John’s throat, and he began banging John’s head on the edge of the door frame. The first blow stunned John and he flailed helplessly against the floor. The second was a bolt of agony through the back of his head. He could barely breathe, Evan’s hands were wrapped so tightly around his throat. The blows continued and consciousness was fading into blackness. Evan was still screaming at him, “No! NO! You killed her! Oh God you killed her!”

EXCERPT

“I never do what’s anticipated.” He pulled her closer into his chest and whispered in her ear. “It would make me boring and predictable.” He slipped his hands under her blouse and stroked his fingertips in seductive circles over her flesh. The passion in his eyes grew hotter. “I’ve desired you from the moment you walked through my front door.”

She widened her eyes in mock shock then shot her gaze over to Arlo. His raised brow and cocked head made her turn a frown back in Logan’s direction. “You said this was a game of truth.” She placed her hands over his, keeping them just below her breasts. “That’s a lie.”

“No, it isn’t.”

Logan, it was quite obvious to us all that morning the only thing you wanted to do to me was to interrogate me.” She looked at Arlo again. He shrugged and started singing another song. Coward. He was avoiding voicing his opinion.

“Then you’re all blind, because the first thing I truly wanted was to kiss those perfect lips. The second thing was to interrogate that succulent mouth of yours to make it tell me the truth about you.” He glided his touch around to the sides of her breasts.

Fay liked how his hands caressed her, and she wasn’t about to tell him to stop. His touch created a fire deep inside her, something she’d longed for all her life.

“Fay, a person can be suspicious of someone, but it doesn’t necessarily negate a very strong attraction to them. How do you think most assassins get in close for a kill? Their targets find them very attractive.”

“Hmm, didn’t think of that. What you say is true.” She felt his fingers stroke down her lower back to play with the laces holding her blouse closed. A subtle heat warmed her pussy. “I’ve known a few women who loved their husbands but didn’t trust them to be faithful.”

“See.” In one swift motion, he pulled at the laces and removed her blouse.

Logan,” Fay whispered. Arlo’s soft singing in the background reminded her they weren’t alone.

He trailed his seductive touch to her bra straps. Slipping his fingertips beneath the material he worked the silky strips off her shoulders. She crossed her arms over her breasts to stop him from removing it.

Logan, we can’t—”

He swept her deeper into his arms and stopped her words by pressing his mouth to her ear. “Tell me true…do you desire me?”

Without breaking his hold, she was able to brace a short distance between them, just enough to gaze into his eyes. “Truth?”

“Nothing but the truth shall ever pass between us.” He tilted his head forward and down, closing the space between them. He brushed his mouth softly against hers, merging their heat, and then did it again. He licked the seam of her lips, and she couldn’t help herself. It was a physical need. She granted his tongue entry.

Her bra fell free before she circled her arms around him. His touch ignited her flesh as he moved his fingers to the front of her jeans and worked her zipper until her pants dropped to the ground. “The truth is—” she murmured at the release of his lips.

“The truth,” he whispered in her ear. “Even though I fear my knees will fail me should you tell me I disgust you.” Logan cupped each breast before dropping his hands to stroke several gentle passes over her ass. He kissed and caressed, roaming his hands over her, although he did take care not to touch the area of her wound.

She stroked her nails up his back in wanton need, realizing if she were honest with herself, she felt the same desire for him she’d felt for Arlo and Drakker. “If my heart were to speak the truth, it would say you grabbed my sexual interest the moment I saw you in those tight white pants and red silk shirt.”

Her remark brought a proud smile to his lips. “Okay…so my clothes got you heated up.”

“No, it was the hard body beneath those clothes.”

“So…when did I capture your heart?”

“Honestly?”

“Honest.”

“When you became my hero.”

“I’m your hero? How? When?”

She smiled up at him. “Escaping the Nike silo. I still can’t believe you carried me all that way to safety.”

“How do you know that?”

“Whenever I woke up you were there, and Chandra confirmed it when I asked her.”

“Ah.” He smiled then frowned. “That was all it took?”

“Yes.”

“Funny, it happened for me then as well.”

“It did?”

“Yep, I knew in my gut I already loved you when you admitted you risked your life for me. That’s when I knew I couldn’t live without you. Hell, I didn’t want to ever let you go. It’s why I wouldn’t let anyone else carry you. You were mine. I knew somewhere within you, you had to love me. For you to sacrifice yourself like that…you had to love me.” Logan picked her up and carried her toward Arlo. “Honor me, brother. If you’re leg isn’t too bad, join me in pleasuring our woman tonight.”
