Cover Reveal: Corporate Almighty: 2098 by James Owens #comingsoon #bookcover #coverreveal #politicalthriller #satire #rabtbooktours

Political Satire/Fiction

Date Published: October 28th, 2025

Publisher: Acorn Publishing

At the turn of the next century, a corporate oligarchy rules America with an iron fist. Commercial jingles have replaced the Top Forty, babies come from factories, and the race captivating the nation isn’t between political candidates. It’s the cutthroat competition to find the formula for No-Sog Stay-Crisp Cornflakes.

The battle pits cereal titan Todd Swindell, head of Flakes Alive Incorporated, against Chad Scandalman of the Great American Flake Company. When Scandalman hires a diminutive assassin named Twinkle to bump off his rival’s top chemist, it sparks a war of the flakes that makes the bloody feud of York and Lancaster look tame by comparison.

But not everyone in the Cornflake capital of Domino, Indiana, is happy with the status quo. Ziggie Wexler, an unemployed pipefitter and all-around average Joe, knows that something is deeply wrong with his country.

All history prior to 2040 has been banned, but old-timers whisper about the days when people still voted for their leaders. After Ziggie posts fiery polemics against the state to the Clandestine Journal, he becomes a marked man. But in a world built on lies, there’s one truth he’s sure of. Somebody needs to fight back.

About the Author

Retired IT professional, James Owens is a trained computer engineer and technical documentation specialist who earned an A.A.S. in computer programming and a B.A. in English from Purdue University.

Immensely curious about human behavior, James spent the 1970s hanging out on the streets to observe people, many of whom became inspirations for his fictional characters. Later, he worked in cube farms at conservative insurance companies, where the idiosyncrasies of corporate personalities sparked his imagination.

James has spent the last decade reading and writing offbeat fiction about bizarre protagonists. Corporate Almighty: 2098, a dystopian tale about the rise of the corporation and the fall of democracy, follows his first two novels, Animal Candy and Pods of Bubbledumb: A Study in Mass Depravity.

Born and raised in an industrial suburb on the south edge of Chicago, James lives with his wife Sue and four cats in Evansville, Indiana.

Excerpt

Ed Baker, professor of political science emeritus, watched a burst of snow obliterate the lights on the opposite shoreline. The world out the window got smaller. Since Melody had introduced him to her lake home in the northwestern part of the state, this had seemed a haven and a refuge. Now it began to feel like a premonition of four years for America. Dark, icy, and a threat to your life.

It was early yet today, not even breakfast time, and he’d finished email, lounging over his computer at the kitchen island. Melody was sleeping in a bit, dealing with some sort of cold for the last day or so. He was a little worried how fast this had come on and how weak she was. Another cup of coffee? I believe I will.

Looking back at him, faintly mirrored in the window, he saw a white-haired, white-bearded figure of middling height, dark wire-framed glasses, a little thicker around the middle than was probably healthy. Shadowy in a robe and slippers. That’s me, he thought. Pretty conventional. Beard and hair trimmed. Not ratty, not too well turned out. No lean Jordan Peterson, no pudgy, sloppy Jeff Bridges, no crisp Alec Guinness. No old surprises, and I feel like I’m fresh out of new ones. Just me.

When his journey into being a gadfly, a subtle saboteur, had begun four years ago, he had been widowed, a little thinner, clean-shaven, and dark-haired with some threads of white. Not any longer, he thought, and sighed happily.

He thought about that hyphenated estimate of the country’s emotional condition: “pre-suicidal.” He wouldn’t have expected the presidential election of 2024 to have turned out to be so emotionally devastating. When Former President Frederick Underwood Gray had “disappeared,” fleeing to Moscow in the face of possible impending arrest, and current President Gerard Freeman had decided to withdraw so both parties could start over, Baker had been cautiously optimistic. Both Democrats and Republicans had publicly talked about a “reset,” with reaffirmation of “first principles” about government. He hoped for new platforms.

It hadn’t happened.

Tour Kick Off: Secretary of Faith by K. C. Boyd #nowontour #thriller #dystopian #rabtbooktours @KCBoyd3

Political thriller, Dystopian theocracy, Corporate Oligarchy

Date Published: October 31, 2024

Publisher: Rebel Island Press

Lies, fear, and the Holy Bible are the country’s undoing in K.C. Boyd’s second, dystopian tale, a story that all too closely resembles an America in which Project 2025 rules. Vividly depicting the present-day racism, greed, and religious hypocrisy, Secretary of Faith serves as a cautionary warning to Project 2025.

After an orchestrated victory, the newly elected President redefines the country by changing its name to the United Christian States of America. Next, he reduces the traditional number of seats in his cabinet to four, and adds a fifth, the Department of Faith, appointing his lifetime mentor, Christian Hillcox, as its first ever Secretary.

The rule of law is no more. Sanctioned by the administration, violent mobs take to the streets. Media is state-run; neighbors inform on neighbors; loved ones vanish, never to return. When a natural disaster strikes the West Coast, an already well-organized Resistance emerges and Secretary Hillcox finds himself in a battle to maintain both the administration’s narrative and his own position through evermore frightening means.

In a showdown between Good and Evil, the question is—will citizens rise to the occasion and save the Republic?

  About the Author

After twenty years of visiting megachurches in Ohio and across the country, attending various 'Values Voters'' conferences, and watching untold hours of televangelists preach the 'Word', K.C. Boyd decided to use her flare for fiction to share the dangerous truths she saw. As human beings have always responded to story, Boyd felt the need to communicate the grave danger we face-particularly from religious extremists who now stand arm in arm with genuine fascists-through story.
