Tour Kick Off: Steady is the Fall by @emilyrverona

General Fiction / Literary
Date Published: October 29, 2015

Holly Dorren can't breathe. Think. Feel. Her cousin is dead. Nothing will bring him back. And nothing will ever make her whole again.
In the days following Larry's funeral, Holly begins to reflect on the childhood they shared. She looks for answers in both the past and the present, convinced that understanding his fascination with death might somehow allow her to cope with his absence. She doesn't want to disappear, but already she's fading away from the life she's led.
Holly knew her cousin better than anyone, she was his best friend, and yet there is still a great deal she cannot accept in their relationship. In him. In herself. She doesn't know how to move on without him, but refusing to accept his death carries it's own devastating price.

  1. Do you see writing as a career?

Yes. I've been writing novels since I was six and have always wanted to do it professionally. I had this ideal of being able to write fiction full time which, though challenging, is something I still strive for. I love stories. I love character. I love everything about it.

  1. What was the hardest part of your writing process?

I am committed to both books and cinema. My writing process includes visualizing scenes unfolding as they do in movies and sometimes there is something I would know how to do in a film or that would make sense in a film that does not translate to a novel. It is rather frustrating to either accept that limitation or admit that the scene should really unfold another way. It does, however, make the process eventful and challenging, which I always enjoy.

  1. Did you have any one person who helped you out with your writing outside of your family?

I have a lovely critique partner, but we started reading each other's longer fiction after this novel was already completed. I must admit, with this book my biggest reader was my mom.

  1. What is next for your writing?

I'm doing a bit of genre shifting. I'm always fascinated by family drama, but that can be found in many different places. My agent currently has my next novel in hand and the one I'm writing now goes in a completely different direction.

  1. Do you have an addiction to reading as well as writing? If so, what are you currently reading?

Yes. Definitely. I am currently reading The Steady Running of the Hour by Justin Go. I am also a major movie person. The last film I saw in theatres was Black Mass.

DESCRIBE your book in one Tweet:

A tender little ode to love, loss, and the people we live for.

            Um…either…

           Fantasy that feels like reality.

  1. Call or Text?
            Call.

Tour Kick Off: Colin's Quest by Shirleen Davies with #giveaway

Historical Romance
Date Published 11/24/2015

Colin’s Quest, Book One, MacLarens of Boundary Mountain Historical Western Romance Series
For An Undying Love…
When Colin MacLaren headed west on a wagon train, he hoped to find adventure and perhaps a little danger in untamed California. He never expected to meet the girl he would love forever. He also never expected her to be the daughter of his family’s age-old enemy, but Sarah was a MacGregor and the anger he anticipated soon became a reality. Her father would not be swayed, vehemently refusing to allow marriage to a MacLaren.
Time Has No Effect…
Forced apart for five years, Sarah never forgot Colin—nor did she give up on his promise to come for her. Carrying the brooch he gave her as proof of their secret betrothal, she scans the trail from California, waiting for Colin to claim her. Unfortunately, her father has other plans.
And Enemies Hold No Power.
Nothing can stop Colin from locating Sarah. Not outlaws, runaways, or miles of difficult trails. However, reuniting is only the beginning. Together they must find the courage to fight the men who would keep them apart—and conquer the challenge of uniting two independent hearts.

I have been writing most of my life, but only recently began the transition into fiction. Historical romance, contemporary romance, romantic suspense, and short stories are what keep me reading, so that is the focus of my writing.

I was born in California, grew up between a growing beach town and a small town at the base of the San Bernardino mountains. My mother originally planned to name me Katherine, but she read an article in the paper about a woman named Shirleen shortly before my birth, so instead of having a cool nickname, like Kate, I am simply Shirleen. My mainstays growing up were all the Nancy Drew mystery books; I loved them. Eventually I moved on to mysteries, suspense stories, crime novels, and romance. Pride and Prejudice will always be one of my favorites.

Besides California, life changes have allowed me to live in Oregon, Colorado, and Arizona. Everywhere I have lived has been inspirational in one way or another, giving me the opportunity to meet remarkable people with their own stories to tell. I've sailed, skied, owned horses plus lots of other animals, and ridden various off-road vehicles. I enjoy dancing, fishing, hunting, being the back-seater on my husband's Harley, traveling and, of course, reading and writing.

Prior to transitioning to writing fiction, I worked for Fortune 500 and many smaller, start-up companies. Fortunately, I regained my sanity long enough to start my own consulting firm, which I still maintain today.

My husband and I spend most of our time at our main home in the mountains of Arizona and our second home in Southern California. Between us we have five boys with growing careers and families of their own. So, from my perspective, my life is a success and always an adventure. I wouldn't change a thing; well, except finding more time to write.

Tour Kick Off: The Lightening Round by Bruce Stuart

Literary / Women's Fiction
Date Published: November 1, 2015

Did you ever wonder what it’s like to dare to fall in love with someone who literally isn’t on your level?

The Lightening Round is a fast-paced novel brimming with colorful characters, sinister plots of intrigue and revenge, and over-the-top antics.
Hannah More, a single mom with weight issues, assumes that her longtime boyfriend, Luke Havitt, is about to propose marriage to her. Instead, he proposes that in order for Hannah to take their relationship to the next level, that she needs to join a gym and to lose weight. Hannah soon finds herself entering the Ultimate Level, a highly controversial yet incredibly sought after San Francisco “fitness experience” known for not only having the latest in technology and fashion, but also segregating all of its members based solely on their weight and fitness levels.
This snappy novel ultimately questions whether true love can survive two individuals from different levels. Even if those levels are only found at a gym.

Bruce Stuart is the founder of five previous books and is the founder of the popular serial fiction website, SerialTeller.com. The Lightening Round was previously seen in part as a serial on SerialTeller.com under the pseudonym K.T. Newman.
Bruce lives and works in San Francisco.

Book One of the Love of Fairs series

What happens when a Computer Geek challenges a Medieval Outlaw?

Petir takes a rough tumble in the Connecticut woods, and awakens in the middle of old England. His instinct to freak out is tempered by the arrival of a fair maiden wearing a bow... and arrow. Throwing caution to the wind, Petir decides he has nothing to lose by pursuing Maid Rianne. But when she is captured by the enemy, a geek with no ability to defend himself must find a way to rescue the fair maiden.

Look for the second book in the series, Fairly Safe, available this winter!

Excerpt

Despite the summer heat, she felt chilled to her very bones.

“I warned you not to cross me, Rianne. A true winner does not let anything interfere with his goal. You will come to thank me for this.” Lord Robert pulled her along.

“Thank you for this?” I have had enough.

Rianne shoved her shoulder into Robert’s ribs. He staggered to the side at the unexpected blow. She leaned over, raised a tucked leg, and slammed her heel into his chest. As he tumbled backward, she dropped to the ground to slip her bound hands underneath her and over her feet so they would be in front. Unfortunately, the simple maneuver was hampered by her skirts.

She was up and running, trying to reach the sanctuary of the forest, but the untangling of her skirts from her bonds had shortened her lead. Lord Robert was right on her heels. Within moments, he seized her around the waist and grappled her to the ground.

He stood up, breathing heavily. Lord Robert was built for smashing, not running. He dusted his hands off with distaste. Rianne lay on the ground, glaring at him, ignoring the pain in her hip. He brushed off his clothing, ignoring her.

“You are trying my patience, Maid Rianne.” He reached down to grab her by the arms, but she rolled out reach.

Scuttling after her, he effectively halted her by stomping on her skirt. He pulled her to her feet and shook her by her shoulders. “Nice try, but I am taking you to the sheriff, and there is nothing you can do about it.”
