Tour Kick Off: Possession by @annie_oldham #giveaway

Song and Shadow #1

Young Adult Paranormal
Date Published: October 31, 2014

Constance Jerome wants nothing more than to make it through her senior year of high school without being noticed. But when her mother drops the world's biggest bombshell, flying under the radar just isn't in the cards. It turns out Constance is a necromancer—one of the few who can travel the realms of the dead.

Apparently it runs in the family. And now there's a threat coming: another necromancer with plans to disturb the living and the dead, and Constance and her mother are the only ones who can stop him. If only they knew who he was. Or what exactly he was up to. A quiet senior year isn't an option, and Constance must race to stop a high school apocalypse before the balance between the living and the dead is overturned.

#1 – Do You See Writing as a Career?
No. It’s not something I’m doing to earn money to live off of. Instead, it’s my stay-sane-mental-outlet when I’m home with small children. It’s a way to escape from that world for just a little while and create these stories that my overactive imagination throws at me. Will I do it forever? Probably. But I think with a career, the motivation is different.

#2 – What was the Hardest Part of Your Writing Process?
For me it’s finding a set time every day to write, and when I find that time, having the mental energy to write. But if I make it a habit, it’s so much easier to get into the groove.

#3 – Did you have any One Person Who Helped You Out with Your Writing Outside of Your Family?
Any one person? No. But lots of people--my readers. Authors are always told not to read reviews of their books. But I find reviews helpful (if you can read them with a very thick skin). Negative reviews especially. There are always those reviews that just say, “I didn’t like it,” which are soooo unhelpful. But there are also thoughtful negative reviews--ones that discuss problems with character development or pacing or plot holes--that really help to make my future writing better.

#4 – What is next for your writing?
Right now I’m working on the next book in the Song and Shadow trilogy. I’ve really enjoyed writing so far because every book has been different. I’ve written high fantasy, dystopian, and now contemporary paranormal. We’ll see what I choose to tackle next :)

#5 – Do you have an addiction to reading as well as writing? If so, what are you currently reading?
Oh, yes! And I wish I had more time to read. I just finished The Chaos of Stars by Kiersten White, and I love the way she brought ancient Egyptian mythology into a modern setting. When I read, I often go on author binges, so I have Mind Games (also by Kiersten White) up next.

DESCRIBE Your Book in 1 Tweet:
Constance Jerome finds out being a necromancer is genetic, and she got the freaky gene. That quiet senior year she was hoping for? It just got a whole lot...weirder. (Was that short enough? I didn’t count characters!)

  1. A necromancer that travels to the realm of the decade. Who could pass that up to see how that plays out. Can't wait.
