Tour Kick Off - Meet and Greet - Legend Unleashed by M. Latimer Ridley

YA Fantasy
Date Published: 10/26/12

When an infamous criminal is unleashed from his prison, it has consequences for everyone in Carwick. Temperance Levinthal in particular…
Temperance is satisfied with her ordinary life. Dealing with her eccentric, childlike parents is all the excitement she needs. That changes when Alastair Byron returns home.
After a failed matchmaking attempt by her father, sparks fly between her and Alastair-just not the good kind.
They are forced together though, when they are implicated in a grisly murder. Their search for the truth leads them to a secret world beneath Carwick, filled with werewolves, wizards and other magical faey.
However, uncovering the truth is far more dangerous than they’d ever imagined.
There are secrets within secrets.
Even Alastair may be more than he seems…

READING ADDICTION MEET AND GREET

Do you see writing as a Career?

Latimer: Oh definitely- I’d love to be multiple-career woman, Jack-of-all-trades; if I could I would
love to have the time and means to write all the stories we want to tell and do all things we want to
do. To have the chance to share our books with the world as a career, that would be unbelievably
special!

Ridley: It’d be fantastic!! Even though we’re only able to write part time for now, we treat it like our
second jobs! Fun, creative, enjoyable jobs! :D

What was the hardest part of your writing process?

Latimer: Editing! It’s like entering into a dungeon with no torch … there’s always something to
trip you up in the dark *sob* Though it’s very satisfying to finally be at the point when you can
say ‘enough is enough!’ but that is always too long coming!

Ridley: I agree, editing, without a doubt! You know it’ll be worth it when it’s over, your writing will
be so much better afterwards, but it’s like a marathon for the brain! (I’m now picturing a load of
cartoon brains in grey shorts sprinting around in all directions…I worry about myself sometimes!!)

Did you have one person that helped with your writing outside of your family?

Latimer: Ridley

Ridley: I try! :D Latimer of course! We’re not afraid to tell each other when something isn’t working
and at the same time, we can be each other’s mini-cheerleaders when something is going really
well!

She’s a good old bean to me!

What is next for your writing?

Latimer: Onward to Temperance Levinthal’s next book. Then onward to the other inhabitants of
Carwick We have lots more ideas and stories left to tell, so we’ll be wandering the streets of the
town for some time to come!

Ridley: Too right, seeing what we can see!

Do you have an addiction to reading as well as writing? If so what are you currently reading?

Latimer: I have a major addiction to reading - thankfully it’s not a bad habit! I’ve got a bit of a
reading list at the moment – I still have to read Angelfall by Susan Ee (which Ridley recommended
and gave her stamp of approval to, so I know it’s going to be good!). Also, I need to finish Bill Bryon’s
At Home: A Short History of Private Life (it’s fascinating!).

Ridley: I love to read as well, even from a very early age I always had a book in my hand! There’s
nothing better than being caught and sucked into a new world. Where the characters become your

best friends and the hunky man is now your new fictional crush! I love the giant breath you take
after you’ve finished a really good book, like you’ve suddenly resurfaced from deep underwater. So
at the moment I’ve started to swim into the world of Juliet Marillier’s book, Shadowfell. I borrowed
it from Latimer! She’s got good taste! :D

This or that?

iPd or Mp3?

Latimer: I adore my iPod touch; I can’t live without my podcasts or my music! Another addiction!

Ridley: I used to have an Mp3, it broke and I lost all my music- the shriek of horror could be heard
many countries away. So now I have an iPod touch! I love my songs!

Chocolate or vanilla?

Latimer: Vanilla, I’m addicted to Glensik (an Irish company) vanilla yogurts… scrummy!

Ridley: Good choice Lat, that is a very yummy yoghurt!! It has to be chocolate all the way (to an extra
five pounds) for me, particularly Cadbury’s chocolate!! :D

Mashed potatoes or French fries?

Latimer: I really want to say crisps (potato chips), because I do love them!

Ridley: Chips (as in French fries) with ketchup, anything with ketchup really!

Comedy or drama?

Latimer: Depends on the mood – but drama with some comedy is nice

Ridley: I noticed Lat’s not playing the game properly, teehee, usually I’m the rule ignorer in these
sorts of things!! I’ll pick just one-comedy! I like having my funny bone tickled.

Danielle Steel or Nicholas Sparks?

Latimer: I have a lot of memories of watching Danielle Steel movies! So will have to go with her

Ridley: I liked ‘The Notebook’, so it has to be Nicholas Sparks.

Fantasy or reality?

Latimer: Fantasy with a dash of reality

Ridley: Fantasy, because then your reality can be what you want it to be! :D

Latimer: Now who’s not following the rules!

Ridley: It was only a matter of time!! ;D

Call or Text?

Latimer: Text.

Ridley: Text, you’ve time to think on what you want to say, plus I’m not very good at talking over the
phone, I liked being face to face with people!

Public School or Home School?

Latimer: Public School

Ridley: Public School, but I always did think it would have been interesting to be home schooled.

Coffee or Hot Chocolate?

Latimer: oh, I’m going to have to jump outside this one and say tea! I couldn’t live without it.

Ridley: Tea too…I’m off to have some now! :D
