YA Contemporary
Date Published: 10/2011
Any other night, Ryan Mills would have driven his best friend, Michael, to Emily's sweet sixteen party at the Breakers Club. Instead, determined to win over the birthday girl, he goes to the party early and alone, setting off a chain of events that ends with a car accident in which Michael dies.
Ryan blames himself for what happened to Michael. As far as he's concerned, he doesn't deserve to have love or ever be happy again. Then he learns Michael left a secret behind. Ryan feels compelled to take on his friend's unfinished business, and in the process, changes his life forever and becomes a man.
This book was published in October 2011 under the title Loving Emily. In May 2012, it was reissued with its content unchanged as Any Other Night. The book was named a Finalist in the 2012 Indie Reader Discovery Awards competition.
A NOTE ABOUT CONTENT: in this book, some characters use profanity, engage in nonexplicit sexual activity, or take illegal drugs.

Reading Addiction Blog Tours MEET and
GREET
#1 – Do You See Writing as a Career?
Yes. I hope someday to earn a living this way, because I
love writing and working at home.
#2 – What was the Hardest Part of Your Writing Process?
The hardest part is
knowing how I’m coming across, if I’m making the kind of connection with
readers that I’m aiming for. I rely a lot on my beta readers for this. They keep me from missing the mark – at least
some of the time!
#3 – Did you have any One Person Who Helped You Out with
Your Writing Outside of Your Family?
My wonderful writing teacher, Linzi Glass. Twice a week, I take her class in Los Angeles , where we
meet in a group to read ten pages of our work and get critiqued. It’s
invaluable for catching parts that are rough or unclear or that need change in
some way. It’s also inspirational to see other people’s work and to cheer each
other on. I couldn’t get my books done
without it!
#4 – What is next for your writing?
I’m working on a New Adult book called Girls Love Travis
Walker. It’s a bit different from both
of my earlier books. The material’s more mature, but I hope it will still be a
good story with characters you want to read about.
#5 – Do you have an addiction to reading as well as writing?
If so, what are you currently reading?
I’ve always loved to read, but these days it seems like I
mainly read in connection with my work. My favorite books about writing are
those by Donald Maas, like Fire in Fiction.
I also read the “competition,” i.e. YA books in the same genre as
mine. Two great books that I’ve read
recently are Such a Rush, by Jennifer Echols, and Spill Over, by Jolene Perry.
This or That?
#1 - iPd or Mp3? Unfortunately, neither.
#2 – Chocolate or Vanilla?
Chocolate, without question.
#3 – Mashed Potatoes or French Fries? French Fries, again without question.
#4 – Comedy or Drama?
Comedy. I love to be entertained.
#5 – Danielle Steel or Nicholas Sparks? Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook changed my
life.)
#6 – Fantasy or Reality? Reality.
As they say, truth is stranger than fiction.
#7 – Call or Text?
Call. (I’m old fashioned.)
#8 – Public School or Home School ? Public school, but that’s because I don’t
know that much about home schooling.
#9 – Coffee or Hot Chocolate
Hot chocolate. Again, chocolate all the way.
#10 – eBook or Paperback?
Ebooks, because I can buy them impulsively at two in the morning.
