Tour Kick Off - Meet and Greet - Uniquely Unwelcome by Brandy Nacole

Young Adult Paranormal
Date Published: September 2012

Racquel is unique. The bloodlines of four of the most powerful beings in the Shadow World are intertwined within her DNA. She has never craved attention. She just wants to be able to live as normal life as she can. But she’s about to find that even though she’s uniquely unwelcome wherever she goes, her abilities also make her the best chance the Shadow World has to stop a threat to all the Shadow races.

Once arriving home, Racquel finds that greater evils exist and that the person she cares for most in this world, her half-sister Addie, has been kidnapped along with other Shadow World beings.
Racquel finds herself facing horrible odds with those who would rather see her dead than alive.

As her journey continues, Racquel learns more about herself, what she is capable of, and that not every being looks at her as an abomination. Coy, a human captive that Racquel saves from the
Vampires, starts showing kindness toward her. Racquel tries putting distance between her and the human boy but as they spend more time together it becomes harder and harder for Racquel to fight the affection she wants and needs.

But will Coy’s friendship and her new found discoveries be enough to help Racquel unravel the strangest mystery that has ever plagued the Shadow World?

Reading Addiction Blog Tours MEET and GREET

#1 – Do You See Writing as a Career?

I do think writing can be a career.  There are several options when it comes to writing.  True, it may not be the option that writers want, such as writing a small column in a newspaper or magazine instead of the big article you want, blog posts for businesses instead of your own, newsletters, etc., but there are options while also trying to reach your writing goals.  It is very common to find writers that have other careers while they work on their writing career.  But just like with any job, it takes time to move up.  The most important thing in conquering a writing career of any form is to keep yourself motivated while reaching that dream.  It can be frustrating, but as the old saying goes “Rome wasn’t built over night.”

#2 – What was the Hardest Part of Your Writing Process?

There are a lot of hard “parts” when it comes to writing, but for me it was the editing.  There are so many grammar rules to remember and mistypes and when it comes to writing a lengthy piece of work like a novel, finding all those grammar errors can be frustrating.  I have a great editor who has taught me so much along the way.  He not only edits my books but he teaches me along the way, something I am very thankful for.  I have seen my writing improve from my first book to my current work.  It has become very satisfying to be writing and see mistakes as I’m writing them.  That tells me I am able to pinpoint these mistakes, fix them as I’m writing, while improving my writing even more.

#3 – Did you have any One Person Who Helped You Out with Your Writing Outside of Your Family?

I did not.  My aunt, husband, and friends help me when I’m stuck on an idea, but I am a very particular person.  When I have a story in my head and see every detail, the plot, and how I want the story incorporated, I keep it to myself and just write.  If it wasn’t for the fabulous use of the internet allowing me to research certain ideas then I would probably have more outside help.  I also didn’t have outside help because I never really thought I would ever publish.  In fact, many of my friends and family didn’t even know that I wrote until I got ready to publish Uniquely Unwelcome.  Writing has always been my passion but for the longest time it was my secret passion.  I love writing but having your work put on display is a scary thing.  I am so thankful to my husband for pushing me to conquer my dream instead of keeping it just that, a dream.

#4 – What is next for your writing?

I am currently working on the third book of The Shadow World series and working on publishing my third book.  Broken Faith is the first book in my Spiritual Discord series, which will be released on March 26th.  Like I’ve stated before, writing is my passion.  I have enough outlines to book ideas to keep me busy for the next ten years or so.  Some of those ideas may never come to life because at this point that is exactly what they are “ideas.”  Everyone has ideas that they think about but some never make it passed the idea stage.  Not because we don’t have faith in that idea but because another idea holds us more.  When I started writing Uniquely Unwelcome, I was working on another novel.  That novel is still unfinished because my “idea” for Uniquely Unwelcome drove a bigger passion in my life than the novel I was working on.  And when the idea for Broken Faith came to me, I couldn’t wait to finish Blood Burdens (Book 2 in The Shadow World Series) so I could get started.  Even though I had a dozen “ideas” for other stories plotted out, Broken Faith came to me and stuck.  When an idea that comes to your mind is so heavy you have to get it out, then you just know it is what you need to do at that time no matter what else you have planned.

#5 – Do you have an addiction to reading as well as writing? If so, what are you currently reading?

Yes, I love to read.  My favorite genre is fantasy but I do read other genres besides fantasy.  I currently just finished reading The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead, which was great.  I have been a fan of Richelle Meads from the time I read the first page of The Vampire Academy.  Now I am just starting to read The Iron Kind by Julie Kagawa.  It is quite an interesting read.

Brandy Nacole resides in Arkansas where her imagination runs wild. Her obsession is reading but her
passion is writing. She put her dream of becoming a writer on the back burner and went to college
to become a psychologist. Three years after endless classes in a field she only felt half satisfied with,
Brandy picked up her pen once again and wrote the outline to Uniquely Unwelcome. She finished out
her degree in psychology but traded her dream of writing for the degree and put psychology on the back
burner. Whenever she’s not reading or writing, Brandy is spending time with her family and friends,
throwing around crazy ideas, and laughing through the crazy moments.
