Tour Kick Off - Meet and Greet - The Warlord's Concubine by J.E. & M. Keep

Paranormal Romance (Explicit Sex)
Date Published: 6/1/2013

Mirella often wonders what her life would've been like had she been born a princess, rather than the property of one.

When a dark warlord from the north conquers her princess' kingdom, however, he has plans for the dainty young future-queen. It makes the question all the more poignant, because now, more is at stake than just her rough treatment, but love and lust as well.

As an indentured servant and handmaiden to the princess for much of her life, the middle-aged Mirella sees the conquest of the land as an opportunity to elevate herself. Though as she earns the trust of their conquerors, she finds her own nature challenged as well. A life of callous disregard has made her hard, but as she battles the princess' will for the first time and finds new allies and friends, does she have what it takes to win the love and favour of the brutal warlord? Will love and friendship be her downfall? Or will her station in life yet again be her undoing?

Caution: The Warlord's Concubine is a dark fantasy novel that contains explicit scenes, and a twisted romance between a handmaiden and a God.

#1 – Do You See Writing as a Career?
We see writing as a passion, and publishing as a career. The writing is something we will always do, no matter what. It’s what we did for fun before we even realized that this was something we could do as a career!

Both of us have been writing since we were very young, and we were both avid readers all through our youth, so writing comes naturally to us. It’s actually a bit insane how much work we have ready for editing right now due to the decade of writing together we spent purely for enjoyment.

#2 – What was the Hardest Part of Your Writing Process?
Meeting our personal standards! We want to give our readers the best book we possibly can, and so it takes a lot of effort to make sure everything is up to snuff. The old adage that “you’re your own worst critic” holds true for us, and the struggle to get our work out there in a state we’re happy with would be eternal if we let it.

#3 – Did you have any One Person Who Helped You Out with Your Writing Outside of Your Family?
J.E. and I are lucky because we’re in this together. We’re partners in all things, and we love being able to go through this – the ups, and the downs – together. It’s very rewarding for us to share this passion, and the benefits to being a two-person team can’t be overestimated.

#4 – What is next for your writing?
We are very close to releasing an interesting new work of ours, “False Shades”. It’s a 1920’s noir mystery, starring a young psychology student who gets wrapped up in drama and scandal. It was an interesting project for us, because it required a lot of research, especially since J.E. Keep -- being a former historian -- is a huge stickler for historical accuracy.

It was a lot of fun though, and through the process of writing the story itself developed in ways that surprised even us. It was one of those works that really took on a life of its own as we got to writing.

#5 – Do you have an addiction to reading as well as writing? If so, what are you currently reading?
Right now M. Keep is reading Captive in the Dark by C.J. Roberts. Even though she prefers fantasy, she also loves dark erotica, and she devours Skye Warren and Varion Krylov’s novels, so of course Captive has been on her to read for a while!

J.E. Keep is reading the Saga of the Noble Dead, by Barb and J.C. Hendee, a couple who write some amazing fantasy, and Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. He’s a big fan of epic scifi and fantasy.

J.E. and M. Keep have a passion for all things sci fi/fantasy, and a desire to see what characters do when others fade to black. They set out to explore the most sexual, titillating and sometimes terrifying encounters. The plots are contemporary, fantasy, or science fiction, but they all have one thing in common: they’re hot.
From dark and taboo smut to coming-of-ages lust, from twisted love stories to tragic tales of self-destructive needs, they explore the fact that not all ‘Ever Afters’ are happy, and not everyone’s idea of happy is the same.
Come explore the limits of erotica and discover new desires from the smutty minds of J.E. & M. Keep. They can be found on their website at http://www.darkfantasyerotica.com/.
