#1 – Do You See
Writing as a Career?
That would be the dream now wouldn’t it? Well I do see
writing as a career but not solely based on novels. I actively blog and help
people through my blog writing so I can see somewhat of a career spawning from
that combined with the Anstractor series and other books in my future.
#2 – What was the
Hardest Part of Your Writing Process?
Finding the time and place to commit to writing. Right now
like many other people in the workforce my entire life is consumed with mundane
things done for money. When I was not working, there was the social demand of
being available for my girlfriend, so getting a good chunk of time for
Anstractor was a challenge. What I started to do to fix this was to post up at
a bookstore with my laptop when work ended and lock in 2-3 hours of focused
writing. I would turn on John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, and sometimes Mozart to
drown out people talking and try my best to get it done.
#3 – Did you have any
One Person Who Helped You Out with Your Writing Outside of Your Family?
No
#4 – What is next for
your writing?
Mainly, I am working on the sequel to Anstractor, a book
called “Man of Vestalia” (for now) which dives more into the lore of the
galaxy, and the history of the situation. I love "world building" and
Anstractor was such a relationship book... not saying that there won't be a lot
of romance in the new book, but I am writing more of what makes things tick in
this one and I am extremely excited about it. I am also doing some short
stories that I will release periodically on the Anstractor.com page. These
shorts are side stories about some of the people or technology within the book
series and will give people more insight into the more understated characters.
Lastly, to complement my blogging, I am writing a self-help
book for young men to help them be more comfortable in their skin, gain
confidence, and be a better version of themselves. This has been a project I've
been working on for a few years so I am not really sure when it will be at a
point where I can consider it complete.
#5 – Do you have an
addiction to reading as well as writing? If so, what are you currently reading?
I am a reading machine, I LOVE books. Right now I am reading
a lot of marketing books, one being APE by Guy Kawasaki… almost done with that
one. I am also reading “On Writing” by Stephen King which is an absolutely
amazing book if you are a fan of his. It really gives you an intimate look at
who Stephen King is, where he came from, and why he is such a special writer.
On the fun side, I have a few pages left in Terry Brooks’ The Measure of The
Magic and I plan to move on to something by one of my fellow Indie Authors
next… title to be determined.
